The Small Theatre Madras: Sittrarangam
The Small Theatre Madras - Sittrarangam
was a new design by Shahriar Dehghan and Ludwig Pesch based on the experiences gathered with the prototype of the Natya Sala presented at the 1986 Symposium at the Max Mueller Bhavan (Goethe Institute) Madras.
Built in conjunction with the Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) as an exhibition pavilion in the trade fair complex near the University of Madras. For about ten years it was used as a performance space, for workshops by local and visiting artists and educators, and for drama rehearsals.
The monograph titled A Theatre for all: Sittrarangam, The Small Theatre Madras (Ekagrata Publications) provides more information about The Small Theatre Madras.
